It’s not like the Pentagon just suddenly had an epiphany in 2018 and started setting down censorship cells,” Benz says. “This came out of a military perception that civilian-run media would lead to the overturning of the rules-based international order, and the EU...and NATO would come apart if the military did not move into the media.
